Spring is in the Air at Seminole  Towne Center

The Seminole Towne Center kicked off fashions for the spring season by inviting The Maile School to produce a fashion runway show on Saturday February 27th.

As part of our advanced modeling program for children and teens all students perform and model in a live runway show. The fashions came from a variety of stores such as Belk, Cache, Gymboree, Papaya and Sears. The models walking the cat walk were Jamie Crowder, Mikel Erkicia, JR Gay, Rebecca Jenkins, Summer Kemp, Jason Lopez, Findlay Lyons, Hannah Miller, Rafael Rengel, Riley Rocha, Kristin Turner, Austyn Wall & Lauren Zika.

The show also featured some of our top singers. The performers were Azriel Clary (not pictured), Jordyn Kane,  Alexa Neilen,  Shyandra Spencer and Megan Stewart.

If you are interested in modeling in our back to school fashion shows check out our summer camp schedule on page 10 for more information. All students in the modeling camps perform and model at Seminole Towne Center or Mall at Millenia shows.

Kaitlyn says, “Opening happiness through the pop of a Coca-Cola tab is the perfect way for me to remember my surreal journey in Calgary! Walking off the Vancouver bus, where I was greeted by hundreds of enthusiastic middle school children was a precious moment. They had the band playing O' Canada while other students were chanting my name. My heart accelerated when my eye caught a glimpse of the Olympic flame knowing that in a matter of seconds I'd be carrying the torch that represented myself, my community, the state of Florida, my country, and most importantly every teenager! As the flame seeped onto the torch it navigated its way through my bloodstream and entered my heart with the message "the impossible is possible." My legs took off as I chanted, smiled, yelled, and danced my way through the streets of Calgary. The torch is a symbol of harmony and goodwill that holds the spiritual significance of the Olympic Movement. Having the opportunity to share this experience with a humble, genuine, 18 year-old gold medalist, Shawn Johnson, was an indescribable feeling. The crowd shared our excitement as we did a "happy dance" that mimics my typical dancing and a "hip bump step" which Shawn taught me. (It's funny because it exemplifies how I'm a little uncoordinated with my hips. Trust me, you'll laugh 'with me' in the video.) This incredible journey wouldn't have been possible without the unconditional love and support you give me on a daily basis. I want to celebrate this incredible experience by showing you some videos, articles, pictures of my 2010 Winter Olympic Torchbearer journey.”

Jeanmarie is unstoppable!!

The Maile School and New Hope for Kids non profit organization granted eight year old Jeanmarie Perez a scholarship to attend modeling classes.

Jeanmarie has spina bifida and cerebral palsy which presents many challenges for her. Despite using crutches to walk this has not slowed her down when modeling on the runway.  Debby Tapia who teaches her modeling classes says, “Jeanmarie is a bundle of joy, very eager to learn and has an amazing personality. This goes to show you regardless of your disability it is truly about your passion and Jeanmarie does have passion.”

In 1985 the Wish Program was founded to grant wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses who have not yet reached their 19th birthday.  Although the New Hope for Kids Wish Program is not able to cure the life-threatening illnesses of their wish children, it is proud to grant wishes and provide follow-up support in order to lighten the burden for the children and their families and improve the quality of time remaining in the child’s life. The children’s modeling program not only helped Jeanmarie learn about the modeling and acting industry it also helped build her self esteem and confidence. She is the daughter of Charlie and Jennette Perez of Orlando.

Pictured above is Jeanmarie looking beautiful during her modeling class!

Acting instructor Justin Smith has been busy this year. He says, "I've been super blessed lately with booking the TV show Vampire Diaries that airs on Thursday nights at 8pm on The CW network. He played the character of Duke, a hard partying college jerk. After that he came home to work on a Christian based independent film called The Whisper Home. It was shot on location in Orlando. In February he booked a principal role on a national HH Gregg commercial. Then in between his television and film work he's been doing some corporate hosting for Lowes. He travels all over the country to places like Las Vegas, New Orleans and Nashville to name a few. Most recently Vampire Diaries brought Justin back on for another episode to finish out the season. Justin also says, “2010 has been a great year and I hope the snowball keeps getting bigger!” Keep an eye out for Justin Thursdays at 8pm on CW. Continued Success!
