Michelle Strikes Gold!

        Acting graduate Michelle LaBret  recently landed a supporting role in the upcoming movie The Gold Retrievers staring Steve Gutenberg, Curtis Armstrong and Billy Zane. The story is about a boy and his dog who go in search of a fabled local treasure in an effort to save the family house from foreclosure. Michelle plays the role of Rachel, the town bully.     The filming took place in California and Michelle was on set for about six weeks. Pictured right is a shot of Michelle and director James Hickox and the producer Scott Vandiver on the set.  For more information on Michelle and her movie check out our November newsletter for the release date.    More of Michelle's recent bookings include a pilot called Super Kids and Dad in New Jersey and another pilot called Our Family Spirit, which has not started production yet.

    Michelle, now sixteen years old, attended acting class here at The Maile School in 2002 at the age of nine. She studied for several years in our advanced programs as well as working privately with acting instructor and coach Kevin O’Neill who Michelle’s mom Patti credits a lot of her success. 

 

 

Star Talent

Acting grad Dynell Ma'aseia booked the Florida No Fault/ Direct General/ Cash Register commercial along with the radio spots which are both airing now. She also worked as an extra in several commercials including HHGregg, Sweetbay in Tampa, and Jacobs & Goodman which is already online and should be airing soon. She also landed a voice over for Disneyland Resorts. Dynell, says “I was blessed to be working especially in such tough economical times. I've been doing this for seven years now. Time flies when your having fun, or when your keeping your nose down in the grind of pursuing success.” Well said Dynell!

Congrats to grad Elizabeth Tran for gracing the cover of Supermodel Unlimited magazine’s Sept/Oct issue (pictured right) which is available at Barnes & Noble.  Also, she will be modeling on the runway for Tampa Fashion Week 2009. Elizabeth attends Cypress Creek High School and is part of their IB program where she maintains a 4.0 grade point average. She has been dedicating most of her time to community service and has her own non-profit organization Teens Go Green www.teensgogreenglobal.com . Elizabeth was crowned Miss Central Florida Outstanding Teen and won Miss American Coed National Model and Speech competition. She was also awarded swimsuit runway model of the year and Teen model of the year. She organized and modeled for Queens Go Green Fashion show to benefit Children's Miracle Network. Other bookings include modeling for Breast Cancer Awareness Fashion Show, and the International Presentation of Performers Runway Showcase.  Elizabeth has received many awards including those for the American Cancer Society Community Spirit , Disney's Dreamer & Doer and Miss Florida Community Service to name a few. Nice work Elizabeth!

    Congrats to advanced acting graduate Tiffany Dion for booking a principal role as Minnie Mouse in a commercial for Party City, choreographed by Chris Judd. (Pictured left)  Tiffany’s other credits include film work in Letter’s to God, Grim Fairy Tale, and Crooked. Some of her print clients include ads for Disney and StarPort Combata Aviation International.  Tiffany is nine years old and a straight A fourth grader.  She enjoys singing, dancing and musical theater, but film acting is her true passion and she hopes to land a lead role that will bring her to LA someday!  Last May she won first place as a solo vocalist in her school’s Star Search Talent Show. We are sure to hear more from this talented young actor!

Image, modeling and acting grads Adriana and Alexandra Milbrath spent two weeks in New York performing in a showcase with the Broadway Artists Alliance at New World Stages, an Off Broadway Theatre. The sisters were two of only 77 students who were chosen from 2,000 applicants. The girls said, “It was an exciting experience for them to meet and work with some of the very best Broadway entertainers.” Speaking of Broadway entertainers pictured above right are the girls with three time Tony nominee Rebecca Luker who plays Mrs. Banks in Mary Poppins. Mom Aurora said, “She was fabulous in her performance and absolutely delightful in person.” Also pictured above left is Aurora with the girls and Scarlett Stralle who plays Mary Poppins.

    Before leaving for Los Angeles, acting graduate Jessica Lonardo booked a lead role in the short film called, Lord Hear Us, which will be seen at the Enzian Theatre.  While in LA for six weeks, Jessica landed several bookings including an industrial called All Kids Count, which will be distributed to all of the schools nationally to help spread the message to keep kids off drugs.  She also was in a pilot called Earth Park, and a music video which will be aired on MTV titled Watch Me with a young rap artist.  Since she has been back in Orlando, she has booked multiple print jobs for Disney.  Way to go Jessica!

     Modeling and acting graduate Jeff Cox was featured in the New York times and on TV News 13 for honoring the memory of 9/11 by proposing a memorial made out of a piece of the steel from the World Trade Center for his home town of Windermere. Jeff is currently a Life Scout and is trying to become an Eagle Scout.  Although, the town will have the final say in the memorial we are proud of Jeff and what he is trying to accomplish in this project.

Acting graduate Jackie Dozier was recently cast to star in two plays at The Little Theatre of New Symrna Beach. The first play is titled Wait Until Dark, which is a mystery thriller by Frederick Knott and will open in October.  The second play, titled Oliver, by Lionel Bart will open in November. She also recently booked a Full Sail film titled Where Babies Come From.  We are very excited for Jackie and hope to hear more great news soon!

    Cache at the Mall at Millenia hired several of our professional modeling students & grads to mannequin model in their store front windows. The models wore some of this seasons hottest trends  This was a great opportunity to gain experience in one of the many different areas of modeling and everyone said it was a blast! Be on the look out this October as more of our models will be featured during fashion week.

WELCOME!!

     The Maile School welcomes Jennifer Trapp to our team of pageant coaches. Jennifer is an accomplished stage performer with eighteen years of Acting, Vocal, and Pageant experience.  A graduate of The Maile School, her career in pageantry included the titles of Miss Apopka and Miss Ponte Vedra Beach.  She competed in the 1995 Miss Florida pageant, and was later invited to perform and emcee at the 2002 State Pageant. She was a repeat finalist in numerous local preliminaries and won several Interview, Swimsuit and Talent awards.

     In addition to pageantry, Jennifer has worked in the local Television industry for clients such as Disney, Nickelodeon, Universal Studios, TV-18, Kia, Florida Choice Bank, and the on-air host of Video Music Review.   A brief stay in Los Angeles turned out appearances on feature film Starship Troopers, television series’ Lois and Clark and Pacific Blue, and a celebrity episode of The Dating Game with Eric Nies of The Real World and The Grind.

     Today, Jennifer is an Advertising Consultant for recruitment giant CareerBuilder.com, and continues to work in the local pageant industry as an emcee, vocal performer, pageant coach for The Maile School, as well as a soon to be judge for the Miss Florida Board.  She resides in Orlando, Florida with her husband Matthew; and sons, Dylan and Landen.
