Spencer’s At It Again!

Congratulations to acting graduate Spencer Locke for her recurring role on ABC’s new comedy show Cougar Town.  Cougar Town is about a newly divorced mom named Jules played by Courtney Cox  who is exploring the dating scene.  Spencer began filming in October and will play Kylie, Courtney Cox's son's girlfriend.  Cougar Town airs on Wednesday nights at 9:30pm.  Needless to say she is very excited!  Spencer also spent time working at Paramount this past month filming her recurring role as one of the Jennifers on Nickelodeon's new show called Big Time Rush.  There are three actresses named Jennifer who live in the same apartment complex as a male singing group called Big Time Rush and always audition for the same parts.  The show revolves around the boy band and how they came out to LA to make it “big”.  The show is scheduled to start airing on Thanksgiving Day.  Spencer’s mom Jayme says, “This is a great opportunity for Spencer and it is a really cute show”.

Spencer keeps adding to her already impressive resume. Some of her other noted industry credits have included feature films such as Resident Evil, Monster House directed by Stephen Spielberg and Spanglish starring Adam Sandler. Also, television shows for Cold Case, Without a Trace and Disney’s popular shows That’s so Raven and Phil of the Future to name a few.

Spencer was born in 1991 and grew up here in Winter Park. She now lives in Los Angeles working as a full time actress.  We are so proud of Spencer and are sure we will be hearing more great news from her soon!

Star Talent
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In October 2007, Debra Foxx enrolled in our twelve-week on camera acting program. Two weeks after completing the class she landed two film roles and a week after that she booked her first print job.  She thought to herself, “Wow this is exciting, I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”  She has not stopped since then.  The past 24 months have been absolutely amazing for her.  She has been fortunate enough to dabble in all facets of this whirlwind industry.  In addition to film and print work, she has also done commercials, voiceovers and many fashion shows.  Most recently, she was hired as a regular plus size model for the Home Shopping Network, shot a Disney Vacation Club DVD, and is currently working on a commercial for Jackson Hewitt.  Debra says, “To say that I have been blessed is an understatement and I am truly humbled by it all.”  Quite often I’m asked how did I get started and my response is “The Maile School.”  It’s absolutely the best and most affordable place to start.  They gave me the foundation and the tools I needed to be successful in the industry.  From assisting with my headshots to providing a list of reputable agents, they had the answers.  My first twelve jobs were all referred by Debby Tapia, VP of the Maile School.  She has no idea how forever grateful I am.  The Maile School Rocks!!!”

Acting and modeling graduate Jaimie Steck, 11, is now represented by Abrams Artists Agency (AAA), a bi-coastal talent agency with offices in Los Angeles and New York.  Jaimie’s agent, Wendi Green, founded the youth department at AAA in 1996. When asked how she acquired the ability to spot young talent, Green said, "It's all my gut, and I never doubt my gut… Every day is another exciting opportunity to break a new star."  Steck also signed Suzanne Coston as her manager. Based in Los Angeles, Coston is an executive producer of television specials and Hollywood special events. In addition to infomercials and local films, her work includes commercials for Fuji Film, Mediacom, Chevrolet, and area theme parks.   She lives with her parents, Jim and Terri Steck, at the Stoneybrook West community in Winter Garden and attends Bridgewater Middle School.

Congratulations to children’s acting and modeling graduate Jean-Luc Cruz. He landed the cover (pictured left) of the Orlando Kids Directory Magazine.  Even though Jean-Luc is only 5 years old his industry resume is very impressive. Some of his work includes modeling at the Mall at Millenia’s and Maile School’s 6th annual Back to School Fashion Show for Janie & Jack. He also booked print work for Magic Kingdom, Typhoon Lagoon, DisneyWorld.com and Lifetouch. He also filmed a commercial for Florida Hospital. Jean-Luc is in kindergarten and attends Lake Highland Preparatory School.             We have really enjoyed having Jean- Luc as a student here at The Maile School. His good looks and cute personality will take him a long way in the industry.

Debbie Wisner and Debby Tapia attended the VIP party at the Mall at Millenia during fashion week in October. Making a special guest appearance was former America’s Next Top Model Judge and Supermodel Paulina Porizkova.  President, Debbie Wisner says, “She was very down to earth, easy to talk to, and a pleasure to meet.”
