January 2009
A Look Back at 2008!
January brings in the new year
and before we move on to 2009, let’s take a look at all The Maile School
successful stories from 2008! This year was filled with many graduates,
bookings, events, workshops, shows, and new programs that all contributed to
many accomplishments in the industry!
Bookings

Vincent Martella is one busy actor. He recently filmed the newly
released movie Role Models, as the role of Artonius
starring Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott. He is
also the lead voice of Phineas in Disney’s animated
series Phineas and Ferb. Vincent grew up in DeLand and now lives in LA.

Shannon McGinnis landed a recurring role on
NBC’s Lipstick Jungle starring Brooke Shields playing the character of Megan
Albright. Shannon graduated from UCF and headed straight for

Image and
Professional Modeling grad Nicole Lucas landed her print debut in Seventeen
Magazine’s Winter and Spring Prom issue. She also booked and shot a print spread for

Acting graduate
Spencer Locke who is now living in LA, booked the lead
role of Sally in a 6 hour mini series/pilot called Twenty Six Miles. Spencer is recognized for her role as Jenny in
Monster House and Resident Evil: Extinction. She also appeared in the popular Disney
series That’s So Raven & Phil of the Future.

Acting and Advanced graduate Stefanie Scott
booked the lead role of Katie in the Universal feature film Beethoven: The
Real Story. The film also starred Moises Arias
from Disney’s hit show Hannah Montana.
Stephanie was coached by our very own acting instructor Sheri Kebbel and is managed by Mosaic Talent. In December she also appeared in an episode
of the NBC prime time series Chuck.

Graduate and
Acting instructor Justin Smith was the runner up in CBS’s hottest summer
reality web series INTURN 3. He shot an
episode for As The World Turns. Justin also
shot two episodes of Lifetime’s successful show Army Wives. He played Rumer Willis's husband as a soldier returning home from the
war. His commercial credits include Amscot, Rooms to
Go, and Wet’n’Wild to name a few.

LA resident and
acting graduate Michelle LaBret booked two short
films titled Temple City and Sort of Stolen and also filmed a
pilot called Super Kids and Dad, which will hopefully be picked up by
CBS or Nickelodeon.
She was also selected by Joey Paul Jensen to perform in a stand up show.

Acting Instructor
Kevin O’Neill shot a feature film titled Action News 5. He played
Charles Stratton, a news anchor with a chip on his shoulder. He played opposite Talan
Torrerio from

Modeling and
Acting grad Amanda Balon starred in the 07/08
Broadway tour of Annie starring as Little Orphan Annie. Also out this
year was her latest CD with Time Life & Virgin Records. In a voice powered
well beyond her years Amanda sings beautifully. Amanda credits the unsurpassed
instruction she received at The

Acting and
advanced acting grad Anna Lisa DiBernardo also had a
role in the 07/08 Broadway tour of Annie
playing the role of Molly. Annalisa has preformed at local events such as the
Southern Woman's Show, Mall at Millenia and

The Maile School
along with acting instructor and talent manager Sheri Kebbel
have created The Young Performers Group designed for
the young working actor. We recognize
the importance of providing a creative, inspiring, and challenging environment
for professional young actors to continuously work on their craft! YPG meets every Tuesday from
5:00-7:00pm. If you are interested in
auditioning for this exclusive group please call Jennifer at the school to find
out if you qualify!

The

Acting
instructor and coach Ellen Jones developed a new
program called On Camera Scene Study.
This is for an advanced level actor who wants to work on character
development, defining objectives and playable actions, employing tactics, using
obstacles, raising stakes and more. Her next class will begin January 21st, call the school for more information!

Miss Florida
2006, Allison Kreiger joined The
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The
WKMG Commercial Summer Camp for children and teens held at Local 6
studios. Students took a VIP tour of the
station, attended an on air live news broadcast, and were featured on TV during
the broadcast. The other was a
Teleprompter workshop for adults where they had a surprise visit from lead news
anchor Bob Frier who offered many helpful tips.

Top casting
director John Peros held amazing and very informative
commercial auditioning workshops preparing talent for the commercial season. John’s commercial clients have included Ponderosa, Papa Johns,
Coors Light, ESPN, Disney, and NASCAR to name a few. Be on the look out
this spring for John to offer more workshops! His workshops fill up fast so
don’t miss out!

STAR TALENT

Graduate Lauren
Gower was cast as a principal in the Joey Page video Girl Who Understands Me
and plays a student which will be aired on the Disney Channel. Also
she was cast as the lead in her high school play It's a Wonderful Life playing
Mary Hatch Bailey. Lauren is a graduate of many of our acting programs and
attended several John D’Aquino workshops and had
private coaching lessons from him.

Congratulations to graduate Jim McDonald who
was the featured personality in the Someone You Should
Know section of the City of

Acting graduate Erik Kohler is the popular
public address voice of UCF football, men’s basketball and many other
sports. He was selected to serve as the
voice of the

Grad Angela Bell
Deems booked three principal roles in print & commercial for Universal
Studios (Harry Potter, The Simpsons Ride and The Hulk). She is an industry make up artist and had the
opportunity to work on Dr. Phil (pictured left) for his TV special that aired
on Local 6. She also did make up for a
Coach premiere show and modeled in a fashion show benefiting Pet Rescue by Judy
which raised money for animals up for adoption.

The premier for Somethin Fishy was December 5th at the Science Center . Written and produced by Arte Tedesco of Monkey Fist Productions, Inc. and starring George “The Animal" Steele and Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, stars of the WWE Hall of Fame Legends. Maile School grad Linda Marie Sacks is Twyla Valentine, wife of Greg "The Hammer" Valentine. She shot on location at Camp Mack fishing camp in Lake Wales , FL. Her BFF in the TV pilot is Debbie Seiber, another Maile School grad who plays the role of Pumkin Dunkin. Also, Meghan Latare from the school helped promote the pilot and sell raffle tickets. The premiere was a wonderful night and acting instructor Al Hubbs appeared in the production and was the 2nd Assistant Director. Linda Marie and Debbie were so excited to see their names on the poster. The website for the Somethin Fishy is www.somethinfishy.org.

With over 20 years of industry experience,
Debbie Wisner and her team of professionals help students train in the areas of
Image & Confidence Development, Professional Modeling and On Camera Acting
for TV, Commercials & Film. Debbie teaches in many of the programs

In 2004, Debbie became owner and president. Today, her objective is to
always encourage clients to achieve their personal and professional goals from
acting in front of the camera, gaining confidence, image packaging or executive
