Stand Up for Michelle

Acting graduate Michelle LaBret attended The Maile School when she was 10 years old to get into the industry booking local commercials. She studied with Acting Instructor and Private Coach Kevin O’Neill.  She says, “Kevin is amazing and he encouraged me and my mom Patti (also an acting graduate at The Maile School) to make the move to LA”.  She is now 15 years old, in the 9th grade and living in Los Angeles.  She attends Sierra Canyon Private School where she makes straight A’s (which puts her on the honor roll) and also is on the cross country team.  One of her good friends and classmates is Corrine Foxx, the daughter of Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx.

While spending time back in Orlando this summer, she stopped by the Maile school to audition with John Peros Casting for Alamo Car Rental.  After her audition she sat down and shared her industry news with us.

Michelle has been very busy this year. She shot two short films titled Temple City and Sort of Stolen and also filmed a pilot called Super Kids and Dad, which will hopefully be picked up by CBS or Nickelodeon.  She did another pilot as well titled Our Family Spirit.  Michelle attended a character development class with Joey Paul Jenson from Corey in the House and was hand selected by Jensen to perform Stand Up Improvisation. She was one of 15 performers selected which is a huge honor.

Michelle works with Martin Weiss Management in LA and says her goal is to not be famous but to be a working actor.  She loves the industry and how it works.  Way to go Michelle!

Star Talent!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Image and Modeling grad Kristilee Ginther won the title of Miss Majorette of Florida. She’s 16, and a junior at Haggerty High School. She has been twirling since the age of 4 and has won other noted competitions such as Florida State Strut and Florida State Two and Three Baton. In her competitions she had intense interviewing and said her Image classes helped a lot. She practices 2 hours every day and also teaches in an after school program for middle school students in twirling and guard. One of her students won the beginner AAU Junior Olympics for the 9 year old division. Kristilee wants to go into Law and for the past 2 years she has been involved in the Senate Page Program in which she travels to Tallahassee. In this prestigious program she has been on the Senate Floor, and worked with Governor Charlie Crist as well as The House of Representatives and the Speaker of the House. Kristilee wants to attend Florida State, however her mom Donnalyn admits if she receives a scholarship for twirling, any college would be fine.

Image and Teen Acting grad Tori Farina is off to college at the University of Alabama with a major in communications. This summer she had a model position at Abercrombie & Fitch and was cast in Ace Ventura 3 as a swim team member who torments poor Ace Ventura's son. Tori also filmed The Disney Games, which is currently airing on Saturday nights on the Disney Channel. She was cast as a cheerleader for the blue team. Her mom Caron says, “Tori’s classes at the Maile School helped prepare her in so many ways other than other than the obvious acting preparation.  She became very comfortable making presentations, speaking at SGA functions, handling job interviews and being confident. Those are valuable life skills. Thank you for all the encouragement, warmth and professionalism The Maile team always offers”!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Image and Acting grad Brooke Carroll worked on the SAG film, The Tenant. It was her first major role, and by far her most memorable.  She said the director was great and the crew was so nice. They helped her out with everything, and of course she has to mention the amazing cast!  She worked along side John Kyle, J LaRose, Justin Smith, Aerica D'Amaro, Kevin O'Neill, and so many others. Her role in the film was a deaf teenager so she had to communicate through sign language. Brooke said, “This allowed me to be able to become my character by using emotions, expressions and body language.  Although it was a challenge, it stretched my ability as an actor and I am looking forward to the opportunities this film will bring me in the future. Please visit the website: www.thetenantthemovie.com

Children's Acting graduate Evan Nave booked and shot a local commercial through Brighthouse productions for Peace River. He played a kid with autism. It will run in POLK county. Mom Dawn (also an adult acting graduate) says, “He has been staying busy going on castings and recently booked another commercial for Disney.” Evan is going into the 3rd grade this fall.  Keep up the great work Evan. We are so proud of you.
