Ten
Tips for Mental Health
1. Build Confidence - Identify your
abilities and weaknesses! Accept and build on them and do the best with what
you have. If you believe in yourself others will too.
2. Accept
Compliments - Many of us have difficulty accepting kindness from others
but we all need to remember the positives when times gets tough.
3. Make
Time for Family and Friends - These relationships need to be
maintained; if taken for granted they will not be there to share life's ups and
downs.
4. Give
and Accept Support - Friends and family relationships thrive when they
are "put to the test".
5. Create
a Meaningful Budget - Financial problems cause stress. Be careful not
to over-spend.
6. Volunteer
- Being involved in the community or in a charity gives you sense of purpose
and satisfaction that paid work cannot.
7. Manage
Stress - We all have stress in our lives but learning how to deal with
it will maintain our mental health.
8. Find
Strength in Numbers - Sharing a problem with others who have had similar experiences may help you find a
solution and will make you feel less isolated.
9. Identify
and Deal with Moods - We all need to find safe and constructive ways to
express our feelings of anger, sadness, joy and fear.
10. Learn
To Be at Peace with Yourself - Get to know who
you are, what makes you happy and learn to balance what you can and cannot
change.
FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS FROM SAG
What is the purpose of Screen
Actors Guild?
The main goal of SAG is to
provide competitive wages and safe, excellent working conditions for our
members. Through a variety of programs and activities and industry outreach, we
do everything possible to create an environment in which our members will be
hired and to look after the welfare once they are hired.
How do unions protect the professional?
To most people in the
entertainment world, "professional" performer means "union"
performer. The minimum in wages and working conditions that union members today
take for granted, are the results of hard-won battles fought by earlier generations
of performers, bringing the profession from adoption of the first minimum wage
in the 1930s to today's digital age. Because of the struggles and commitment of
these pioneers, as well as the ongoing vigilance of today's performers' unions,
professional union actors can expect fair and equitable treatment in auditions,
wages, working conditions and benefits.

Are You
at the
TOP of Your Game?
Although it’s not always fair,
appearance and how we present
ourselves make an immediate statement.
Do you create your strongest 1st impression? Look your best? Are you prepared to confidently sell yourself
in employment interviews or auditions?
At work, do you need a boost to reach that next level?
Since
1982, business professionals, entertainment talent, those re-entering the
workforce, and teens have sharpened presentation skills working with founder
Lisa Maile, either in our 13-week Image & Confidence program, where she
instructs 5 sessions, or with her private coaching.
“In
weeknight adult Image or the Sat Teen course, students receive lifetime
enrollment, allowing them to repeat any/all classes at no charge. We frequently see professionals again to
fine-tune before an important interview, and it pays off!” says Lisa, who
instructs Power Image & Interviewing at universities and trains for
corporate clients through Lisa Maile Executive Seminars.
Lisa’s
private consultation, custom-tailored to your needs, can be as diverse as
closet analysis & shopping to create a winning wardrobe on a budget, power
interviewing, public speaking, pageant preparation, “beauty” packaging,
confidence or social skills development, on-camera coaching, weight loss &
getting healthy, and creating a professional/personal game plan. “Often, private clients prepare for
interviews, which might be employment-related, college-entry, on TV or radio,
or at a pageant.” Explains Lisa,
“Nothing’s more satisfying than hearing someone’s not only excelled, but also
enjoyed interviewing, and typically execs report job offers for thousands
more than expected!”
Our
coaching success record is impressive: Lisa has prepped authors for book
tours, packaged broadcasters, political candidates, professors, and with
pageant prep, grads have twice become Miss
“For
me, helping people excel, whether it’s entry into Harvard, pageants or landing
the industry or 9-5 dream job, is MY dream job.
The goal may be to develop the look and confidence to meet that special
someone. We tailor my coaching to best
help you shine,” promises Lisa.
Four hours of consultation
also includes 4 communications classes.
Modeling & TV students (or children’s parents) can sample Lisa’s
motivating style by attending our Breaking into the
Industry seminars. For information on
coaching, please contact School President Debbie Wisner at Debbiew@LisaMaile.com or 407-628-5989
