SCHOOL NEWS

January 2006

Happy New Year!

2005 was an exciting year, here at The Maile School.  We’d like to take a look back at the stories that graced our newsletter’s cover over the past year.  We wish everyone great successes in the coming year!  All the best in 2006!

Chase Stafford kept it “reel” in ’05, hosting the locally filmed, nationally syndicated television show, Get Reel.  The entertainment program, geared for kids, reviewed music, TV shows, movies, theme parks and cool trends.  To host the show, Chase traveled to different locations around town like Hard Rock, Hard Rock Vault, Fun Spot.

Mickey Buckingham shot a pilot for Deziner Kids – a show very similar to Trading Spaces, but for kids!  He also sings in a band called Tune 24 and plays steel drums in another band called Pan-A-Manics.  You might recognize Mickey from his SAG commercial for Tropical Grill or from his billboard for the town of Viera, visible from 192.

Angie McKnight is responsible for opening the first Curves for Women health club in Los Angeles, and currently owns two locations.  Her most impressive business achievement has been to turn a $40,000 investment into $1.5 million market value within three years.  Her business savvy caught the eye of Donald Trump, and he selected her to be on the “Street Smarts vs. Book Smarts” season of The Apprentice!

Dean Napolitano completed five pilots last year, acted as the villain in a PAX movie-of-the-week with Jack Wagner (The Bold and the Beautiful, Melrose Place) and Shannen Doherty (90210, Charmed), shot numerous commercials and did stand-up comedy to open for Joan Rivers.  Dean also booked a guest starring NBC’s hit show, Las Vegas.

Grisel Fuller chose to stay in Orlando and follow her dreams, instead of attending the Presidential Inauguration.  She booked a principal role in a national commercial for Steinmart, which was scheduled to shoot the same day as the Inauguration. The shoot was also the cover story in the “Life and Times” section of the Orlando Sentinel!

Janean Davis auditioned with Grisel Fuller for Steinmart, and was selected to star in a series of commercial for the store.  She was also featured in the Orlando Sentinel’s “Life and Times” section alongside Grisel.  Janean also did commercials for AMSCOT, as well as print work for clients including the Hilton Vacation Club and Time Share.

Lisa Andreone grew up right here in Central Florida, and if you think you’ve heard her last name before, you’re probably right!  Years ago, her father was the mayor of Windermere! Last year, Lisa was chosen to compete on the hit reality show, The Biggest Loser.  In only three months, Lisa lost 75lbs and became one of the final five competitors!

Shannon McGinnis landed the role of Ginger Foley on the ABC soap, One Life to Live.  Ginger is the nanny for Blair Cramer (Kassie DePaiva) and Todd Manning (Trevor St. John).  Shannon also shot an episode of NBC’s “Law & Order” and auditioned for shows on both The WB and Fox.

Spencer Locke had a very busy year!  She is the female lead in the Robert Zemeckis/Steven Spielberg film, Monster House, which is set to release on July 21, 2006.  Spencer can also be seen in guest starring roles on Phil of the Future and That’s So Raven.

Brooke Horn spent her summer in Dallas, Texas shooting the movie Witch Girls Tales.  Witch Girls Tales is an award winning comic book series that Magna Graphix Productions has developed into a SAG live action movie! Brooke has booked at least 60 print jobs, and numerous commercials, for clients including Disney’s Cruise Line and Coca-Cola.

Vincent Martella was cast as Chris Rock’s childhood friend, Greg, in the new hit sitcom, Everybody Hates Chris. The show won the 2005 Multicultural Motion Picture Association’s Diversity Award for Favorite New Comedy Ensemble, and the Family Television Award for Best New Series, presented by the Family Friendly Programming forum. Vincent appeared last year in the films Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo and The Bad News Bears.

Catherine Mangan was cast in the sci-fi/horror/thriller, Altered, which is set in the wilds of Central Florida.  The movie is being directed by Ed Sanchez, who also directed “The Blair Witch Project.”  This time, however, Sanchez has a budget that’s in the millions rather than thousands!  Altered is set to be released later this year.

Jacob, Micah and Hannah Connolly signed a contract with Nancy Carson of the Carson-Adler Agency last summer!  Carson-Adler is one of the top agents in New York - they’re responsible for discovering Britney Spears, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.  His first week in New York, Jacob auditioned and received a call back for a SAG commercial!

Tarah Benzel went to Germany to compete in the U-21 Worlds in Feldburg, and then from there she went to Duisburg to compete in the World Games.  The World Games is a multi-sport event for non-Olympic sports, held every four years.  Tarah was the only female chosen to represent the United States in the water-skiing competition – and she won!

Jim McDonald is a host on Orange TV’s Community Café, and is also the “Official Voice” for all of the station’s PSA’s. Jim has numerous commercial credits to his name, including Nike, Disney, The Golf Channel, Cox Cable and First Horizon.  He’s also done print and voiceover work for clients including Bass Pro and Florida Hospital.

Brooke Bellows was chosen from thousands of applicants to compete in the reality series, Endurance: Tehachapi. Twenty contestants were taken to an undisclosed location near the Tehachapi Mountains and then challenged to use their muscles and brains in a variety of games designed to test their endurance.

Shawn Killinger has worked in local and network news for the past ten years.  She was the morning anchor for WKMG Channel 6 before being selected as a contestant on The Apprentice: Martha Stewart. While working in the news arena, Shawn reported on four hurricanes in two months, and hosted Central Florida’s version of “American Idol.”

Joann Bernat recently finished shooting an untitled Will Ferrell NASCAR comedy in Charlotte, NC!  In addition to acting in the role of a housewife for the film, Joann did stunt work! She was also cast in a short film (currently untitled) that will be submitted for next year’s Sundance Film Festival.

Bobby Tuttle worked on the feature films Domino and Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang.  In 2006 you’ll be able to see Bobby in two more hit films: The Good Shepherd, starring Robert DeNiro, Angelina Jolie and Matt Damon, and The Devil Wears Prada, starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Stanley Tucci.

Congratulations to all our successful grads!

We can’t wait to see what 2006 has in store!

Words of Wisdom from

School President, Debbie Wisner

“The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will.” – Vincent T. Lombardi

In The News

Kimberly Thompson just returned from shooting a cover for Prom Guide magazine in New York!  She is one of their twelve finalists for a $1,000 scholarship, and is hoping to win! Kimberly recently did a Tommy Hilfiger fashion show in Panama City, and worked at an air show for Trident Communications at the Orlando Convention Center.  Kimberly has been working on the film, Now Hiring, and is getting set to start shooting the lead role in the movie, The Observer.  Way to go, Kimberly! Good luck!

Vincent Martella can be seen each week on UPN’s hit sitcom, Everybody Hates Chris.  Vincent is pictured (left) holding the 2005 Family Friendly Award. Everybody Hates Chris received the Best New Series award Wednesday night at the Seventh Annual Family Television Awards in Beverly Hills. The awards, which recognize outstanding programming for family viewing between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m., are presented by the Family Friendly Programming forum.  Congratulations, Vincent!

Tiffany Pittman worked as a Story Editor for VH-1’s Hogan Knows Best series.  She’s currently making the transition from Producer to TV Host.  You can see her as a co-host on Orange TV’s Community Café.  She interviews community leaders and officials about upcoming events and programs.  In addition to TV Hosting, Tiffany is a speaker for Monster Campus Making College Count.  She does hour-long presentations to educate parents about funding their children’s college education.  When Tiffany isn’t busy hosting or presenting, she’s running her e-bay business selling new and used women’s clothing, shoes and accessories.  Keep up the great work, Tiffany!

What's Ahead for YOU in 2006?

Private Coaching and Consulting with school founder, Lisa Maile

Happy 2006!  'Tis the season for resolutions and working toward dreams. What's your special goal, and can we help? Besides presenting monthly "Breaking into the Industry" sessions and instructing Professional Modeling and Image & Confidence Development classes, school founder Lisa Maile is available for private coaching and eager to motivate you to success, whatever your goal!

Lisa started consulting early in the school's 24-year history, while presenting corporate seminars on professional image/communication skills for clients such as AT&T, Disney Institute, Head Sports and Holiday Inn, which continue today through Lisa Maile Executive Seminars & Coaching (Lisamaileseminars.com).  Through one-on-one coaching here at the school, Lisa helps professionals develop a successful image (on a limited budget); powerful interviewing skills to land a dream job, college entry or pageant title; dynamic speaking skills and, of course, winning game plans for modeling and acting!

Lisa explains, "Helping someone operate at full potential is very rewarding, and watching an individual's confidence skyrocket developing 'presence' to project success is my favorite part of coaching".

Network affiliates hire Lisa to create the strongest image for TV broadcasters, authors sharpen speaking skills for media tours, sales pros develop successful pitches, and politicians consult her to package a winning message (she was once requested for a national presidential candidate). "Also, I love coaching 'I don't have anything to wear' ladies and working in their closets!" says Lisa.  "We create their best formula so shopping's easy, learning to coordinate maximum looks with a few key pieces.  Dressing Your Best is simple, fun and affordable with a plan!  And of course, that goes double when male clients learn to enjoy shopping and their strongest look because they save so much understanding what works and why."

Success stories include Campbell Barks, pictured, who worked with Lisa developing power interview skills and at age 25 landed her Washington, D.C. dream job as Associate Director of The White House Gift Office.  "I've had the  pleasure of helping clients reach goals such as entrance into Harvard, or landing a professional position making thousands more than they'd imagined, as well as winning pageant titles", adds Lisa.  School grads include two former Miss Americas, with total contest earnings well in excess of one million dollars. "Sometimes, the objective is confidence and image for social situations or dating.  If your goal involves looking your best, public speaking or presentation skills, we're here to help."

You may have seen Lisa featured on the nationally syndicated "Smart Woman" TV series, Lifetime, TLC, America's Health Network and all local affiliates.
For information on private coaching, please call School President Debbie Wisner at 407-628-5989 or Email Debbiew@lisamaile.com.  Consulting is available for males
& females of all ages; inquiries are confidential.
