Making a Splash!

Acting and Professional Modeling graduate, Tarah Benzel, spent part of her summer oversees.  Tarah, who is a professional water-skier, went to Germany to compete in the U-21 Worlds in Feldburg, and then from there she went to Duisburg to compete in the World Games.  The World Games is a multi-sport event that is held every four years for non-Olympic sports.  Tarah was the only female chosen to represent the United States in the water-skiing competition – and she won!  After her win at the World Games, Tarah went on to Nationals in West Palm Beach where she won the Open Women’s Jump and Over-All Title.  Tarah currently holds 13 National Titles!  She’ll soon be traveling to China for the World Championships.  Good luck, Tarah!  You can do it!

Since retiring after 13 years working as an Orange County Government engineer, Jim McDonald has kept himself busy pursuing the acting and modeling industry full time.  Jim said, “With the help from The Lisa Maile School, I’m able to pursue this and it has been a thrill!”  Not only does Jim have an ongoing gig as an interview host for Orange TV’s Community Café, he is also the “Official Voice” for all of the station’s PSA’s.  Jim has several commercial credits to his name, including Nike, Disney, The Golf Channel, Cox Cable and First Horizon.  He’s also done infomercials for Proctor & Gamble, The Villages, Celebration and First Baptist of Windermere, and industrials for Fidelity Mortgage and various medical establishments.  As if this wasn’t enough, Jim has done voiceover work for Florida Hospital, print projects for Florida Realtor, Bass Pro and various high-end resorts and retirement communities and live modeling jobs for Seminole Towne Center, Bridal Fantasies and Easter Seals.  With such a busy schedule, it’s hard to believe Jim also has time to pursue singing - but he does!  He has worked on numerous singing projects that include operas (in five languages!), Broadway musicals, the barbershop quartet at WDW Magic Kingdom, the Dickens quartets at Christmas, a 30-day Eastern US Christmas tour with the Mantovani Orchestra Octet, and numerous men’s gospel quartets!  Way to go, Jim!  We hope that 2006 is just as successful!

Welcome!

We’d like to welcome the newest member of our staff, administrative assistant Lisa Andreone!  You might remember her from the April newsletter when we showcased this Lisa Maile grad’s success on the NBC hit reality show, “The Biggest Loser.”  We’re so excited to have Lisa as part of our team!  She has a dynamic and friendly personality, and we know she’s a hard worker because she lost 79lbs in only three months - and made it to the final four on “The Biggest Loser.”  Way to go, Lisa!  Even with her new busy schedule at the school, she will continue to make personal appearances for NBC to promote Season 2 of “The Biggest Loser.”  Welcome to the school, Lisa!

Lisa can be reached at landreone@lisamaile.com.

Words of Wisdom from

School President, Debbie Wisner

Most people want to improve themselves, but not many want to work at it.  If you have a goal, go after it!

In The News!

Cree Ivey had another busy summer!  She appeared on the $100,000 episode of American’s Funniest Videos (an AFTRA job) with the host, Tom Bergeron.  The show aired May 13th and is already in reruns.  Cree was also one of the first to receive the Golden Ears to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Disney, an event which she described as one of the best nights of her life!  Some of Cree’s other recent work includes an industrial for Awana Ministries for the Leadership Training Conference.  She was also featured as a principal in their print campaign, which included posters, book covers and folders.  Cree has also done print work for Palm Coast Resorts, Orlando Opera, Ritz Carlton, Lego, Kelloggs, Frosted Flakes, Rice Krispies, Apple Jacks and Fruit Loops.  One of her most exciting jobs this summer was a print job for Starwood Resorts.  Cree and her grandma, Nancy, were flown to the Virgin Islands for the shoot!  Not a bad way for a nine year old to spend her summer!

If you happened to see the recent Orlando Sentinel Life and Times feature, then you saw Professional Modeling grad Rachel Lietzke and Acting grads Patrick Reed and Jon Proechel gracing the cover to promote Patrick and Jon’s new clothing line, Poetic Rage.  Poetic Rage is a fashionable, hip and trendy new line of clothing.  Patrick and Jon, both former Marines turned fashion designers, decided to invest their savings and launch their very own clothing line.  They started their journey by attaining a business license, collecting garments and teaching themselves how to sew and decorate with fabric paint.  Patrick and Jon eventually want to own a line of boutiques, but for now they will be showcasing merchandise, ready for purchase, on their website: www.poeticrage.com.  They will be up and ready for business by the end of September!  You can also check out model, Rachel Lietzke, showing off their new line!  Good luck to all of you!

Children’s Acting grad, Austin Buholtz, attended the third annual Golden Lyre Awards, held at the Helen Stairs Theatre in downtown Sanford.  The event honors great artistic achievement in the performing arts during 2004-2005.  Austin was one of four nominees in the “Best Performance by a Young Actor” category.  Austin won the award for his performance in the role of an Italian restaurant owner in “All Aboard for Broadway.”  Congratulations, Austin!  We’re so proud of you!  Having only recently turned six, Austin is the youngest person to win this prestigious award.  He was presented with the award by WFTV Channel 9’s Bob Opsahl.  In other news, Austin recently completed a shoot for Houghton Mifflin and Aqua Leisure.  Way to go, Austin!

Lisa Maile grad, Summer Posey, was featured in the new Jessica Simpson music video “These Boots Are Make for Walking.”  Summer has also been selected to do the next west coast print work for Coca Cola!  Billboards will appear at entrances to Las Vegas, and all major southern California cities.  Congrats, Summer!  But wait, there’s more - Summer has been asked to read for the part of Olivia De Havilland in an upcoming movie about Errol Flynn.  Ms. De Havilland and Errol Flynn made eight films together and were in love for seven years.  Good luck, Summer!  Keep us posted!

June newsletter cover girl, Brooke Horn, recently completed work on the sci-fi/drama feature film, “Suns of Heaven.”  Brooke was cast in the principal role of “Marty.”  Way to go, Brooke!  Brooke also enjoyed dancing in the Prom scene in episode 35 of the TV series “Table of Choices.” You can also see Brooke on the Young Star News website at www.youngstarnews.com/ysn/movies-news.htm.  Keep up the great work, Brooke!

We got an email from Lisa Maile grad, Jim Sweeney, telling us about some of his latest endeavors.  After only two months at Lisa Maile, this UK comedian managed to get himself listed on the Internet Movie Database (IMDB.com).  Way to go, Jim!  His recent film projects include “Idol of Evil” and “You’re Fired.”  Jim just spent a week filming a pilot for a new sitcom called “The Whipping Game,” that he hopes will be picked up by the UK and European networks.  Good luck, Jim!

Congratulations to Jackie Levine for winning a Golden Lyre in the category of “Best Performance by an Actress in 2004-2005!”  Way to go!
