Get Real!

Teen Acting Graduate, Brooke Bellows, will make her national television debut this October as she competes on the Emmy-nominated reality series, Endurance. Brooke is a 14 year old freshman at Winter Park High School, and is the daughter of Beth and Barry Bellows of Maitland.

Brooke was chosen from thousands of applicants to compete in the reality series.  Endurance, now in its fourth season, tests one’s mental and physical endurance. Twenty contestants from across America descend to an undisclosed location near the Tehachapi Mountains, and are then challenged to use their muscles and brains in a variety of games! The winning team receives a trip to Costa Rica.

Brooke can be seen on Endurance: Discovery Kids on NBC beginning Saturday, October 1 at 12:30pm. (Also look for Brooke modeling for Dillard’s, as well as in an infomercial for Tivo!)

Acting Graduate, Shawn Killinger, who attended classes at Lisa Maile in March of 2004, is no stranger to TV! She was the morning anchor for WKMG CH 6 and can now be seen as a contestant on The Apprentice: Martha Stewart!

Shawn has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Penn State, and has an impressive resume working in local and network news for the past 10 years. She reported on four hurricanes in two months, hosted Central Florida’s version of “American Idol” and has had the opportunity to interview celebs like Jessica Simpson and Hillary Clinton.  Even with her busy schedule, she still finds time to volunteer for Make-A-Wish as a “Wish Granter”!

The Apprentice Martha Stewart can be seen on NBC Wednesdays at 8:00pm.  Don’t forget to watch and see if Shawn can become the next Martha Stewart!

Lisa Maile grad, Amanda Balon, named

“Champion Performer of the World”!

Eight-year-old Amanda Balon, recently went to Hollywood, CA where she competed against 3,000 other performers from 51 different countries at the World Championships of the Performing Arts.  Amanda qualified to compete in 16 different events including dance, vocal, acting, instrumental and modeling.  She was the first person in the Junior division to participate in this many events (the average is 8 events).  Amanda won six gold medals for Team USA, and came away with the title of “Champion Performer of the World.”  She is a graduate of our Children’s Modeling program, and has also trained privately with Acting Instructor Kevin O’Neill.  Congratulations, Amanda!  We’re so proud of you!!

Words of Wisdom from

School President, Debbie Wisner

Real success is finding your lifework in the work that you love.

In The News!

Stephanie Rae, a graduate of both the Acting and Advanced Acting classes, recently booked a job as a Spokesmodel for Radio Shack.  She’ll be promoting a new product called Cinego.  Stephanie also just finished shooting the lead role of “Elizabeth” in the Full Sail film, “Lavatory Love.”  She’s booked in the lead role of “Captain Ava” in another Full Sail film, “Space Adventurers,” scheduled to shoot in a few weeks.  Stephanie also had the opportunity to audition for the TV pilot, South Beach, and is waiting to hear back.  The part she auditioned for is the reoccurring role of a pharmaceutical sales rep.  Good luck, Stephanie!  Keep us posted!

Acting and Advanced Acting grad, Bree Morgan, kept busy this summer opening acts for other major recording artists in the Miami area.  In addition to her vocal training, acting, modeling, rehearsals, performances and schoolwork, Bree has also started recording her very first CD!  Whether singing out her favorite Christian tunes or her own up-tempo “tween” songs like “Check Yes or No,” or ballads like “Butterfly,” she sings with a diva’s panache.  Her goal to be one of the biggest stars in the entertainment industry, and after hearing her incredible voice and witnessing her charm, you will see why Bree Morgan is destined to be entertainment's next big superstar!

Congrats to Acting Grad, Melissa Klein, for appearing in the Orlando Sentinel’s Travel section!  She also recently shot a commercial for Chevy.  Keep up the great work, Melissa!

School Graduate and Acting Instructor, Justin Smith, recently returned from Cape Town, South Africa after spending 6 weeks there filming a full-length, independent film entitled, “The Silent Fall.”  The film’s story is set in motion after the brutal murder of a South African doctor who is on the brink of discovering a breakthrough generic AIDS drug.  If the drug is successful, it could cripple the pharmaceutical giant, the Kingdom Corporation.  Kingdom’s role in the doctor’s death is brought into question, and the story explodes into a web of intrigue and danger.  Justin was cast in the lead male role of Josh Kinsley.  His character is framed and then accused of illegal activity.  “The Silent Fall” is set to release in June 2006.  Justin said working on the film was a life-changing experience.  “Not only did I get to visit the most beautiful place on earth, I got to do what I love!”

Seminole Towne Center celebrated its 10th Anniversary by hosting a “Night of Fashion” fashion show, presented by the Lisa Maile School. Our front office receptionist, Jennifer Wisner, helped keep the evening on track as a coordinator, and Acting Instructor, Justin Smith, emceed the event.  Two of our school’s graduates, vocalist Brittany McDaniel and NBC’s The Biggest Loser’s Lisa Andreone, made special appearances.  Thanks to everyone who helped make the evening a success!

We’d like to congratulate Brittany McDaniel for winning the Regional competition for the Florida Country Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year (Youth Division).  Way to go, Brittany!  She’ll be competing for the State title later this month.
