SCHOOL NEWS August2005 Summer Success! If this successful Acting Graduate looks familiar to you, you may have seen her as “Justy” in the Academy Award winning film, “Monster,” starring Charlize Theron. Since working on “Monster,” Catherine has been living in Los Angeles and working with a manager. Ironically, Catherine’s next big feature film sent her back to Orlando! Catherine was cast in the sci-fi/horror/thriller, “Altered,” which is set in the wilds of Central Florida. Catherine was in town for seven weeks during filming. The movie is being directed by Ed Sanchez, who also directed “The Blair Witch Project.” This time, however, Sanchez has a budget that’s in the millions rather than thousands! “Altered” is set to be released in 2006! Congratulations, Catherine! *** On a recent family trip to New York City, all three of the Connolly kids signed a contract with Nancy Carson of the Carson-Adler Agency! For those of you who don’t know, Carson-Adler is one of the top agents in New York! They’re responsible for discovering Britney Spears, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck! The Connolly’s mom, Michele (also a Lisa Maile Grad - and still auditioning, herself!), said, “If not for the training that our whole family has received from the Lisa Maile School experience, we might not have had the opportunity.” The Connolly kids are no stranger to working in the industry! Jacob (11) has been doing voiceovers for Eastern Sky Media and Cartoon Network! He’s also been singing for Radio Disney, telethons and even as an opening act for the pop vocal group, Jump 5. In addition to his vocal work, Jacob has been modeling for the Mall at Millenia and for Quiksilver. Jacob recently won 1st place at the Seminole Towne Center Talent Showcase. Jacob’s sister, Micah (10), has also been doing voiceover work for Eastern Sky Media, and modeling for the Seminole Towne Center, Limited Too, Mall at Millenia and Oilily! The youngest Connolly, Hannah (7) is already a seasoned model for the Seminole Towne Center, Limited Too, Mall at Millenia and Gymboree! All three of the Connolly kids were booked for a commercial for the University of Pittsburg Medical Center, and Micah and Hannah booked an additional spot for Buick! During their 1st week in New York, Jacob was sent on an audition and received a call back for a Downy SAG commercial! Good luck to all of you! We’re sure we’ll be hearing even more great news from you in the future! Words of Wisdom from School President, Debbie Wisner If you have a worthwhile goal, don’t just talk about it – do it! Put your words into action and make your dreams come true! After it’s done, your friends and acquaintances will talk about it. Debby’s Points of Interest .
In The News We’ve got more great news from Spencer Locke! She appeared in the first two episodes of the Disney Channel’s “Phil of the Future” called “Virtu Date” and “Versa Day.” Spencer can also be seen one page 30 in this month’s Pop Star magazine! Way to go, Spencer! Keep it up! Congrats to school acting teacher, Justin Smith, for landing a national spot for the 2006 Daytona 500 NASCAR series! Justin was selected from his headshot, and then received a backstage VIP pass to hang out in the pit during the 2005 Pepsi 400! Congratulations to grad Kaitlyn Chana, winner of the 2005 National American Miss Florida Junior Teen Queen title! Kaitlyn also won several other titles and awards at the pageant, including the 2005 Miss Florida Junior Teen Spokesmodel title and the Volunteer Service Award for her volunteer work with mentally disabled students. Way to go, Kaitlyn! We’d like to congratulate Crystal Icardi for a job well done at the National American Miss pageant! This Lisa Maile grad landed 2nd Runner Up in the 2005 Miss Florida Pre-Teen competition. Great job, Crystal! Congrats! Image and Professional Modeling grad, Nicole Webb, stopped by the school to give us some exciting news! She booked the cover of the July 2005 Axis Magazine, shot a poster for Budweiser and is in the running for an upcoming Hawaiian Tropic shoot, to be shot in Hawaii this October! Nicole also told us that “E” Entertainment is flying her out to Los Angeles in August to audition for a new “E” show…that she isn’t supposed to talk about just yet! “E” correspondent and model, Brooke Burke, personally selected Nicole to appear in a new exercise infomercial for low impact yoga and Pilates. Congrats, Nicole!! Keep us posted! Children’s Acting and Advanced Children’s Acting grad, Collin DiMascio, has recently been in several commercials! He can be seen in a commercial for Friendly’s Restaurant, Pennington Grass, State Farm and Nickelodeon Suites Hotel (Collin’s featured in all the underwater shots!). Collin is also being considered for the lead role in an upcoming children’s feature film! Congrats and good luck, Collin! CONGRATS to graduates Jean Wilkes, Katie Wilkes, Katie Roof, Carlos Jackson, Malcolm Butler and John Weyrick for booking the Optionetics infomercial! Optionetics is a financial expert’s concept of how to best trade options in the stock market. The founder, George Fontinils, has been featured on almost every financial television program there is!
