SCHOOL NEWS April 2005 Big Time! Most people want to be the winner, but in this case, Acting graduate Lisa Andreone wanted to be the biggest loser - and that’s exactly what happened! Lisa lost 75lbs on the NBC hit reality show, “The Biggest Loser.” Lisa grew up right here in Central Florida, and if you think you’ve heard her last name before, you’re probably right! Years ago, her father was the mayor of Windermere! Lisa graduated from The Lisa Maile School and then went on to major in Musical Theater at Samford University. When she was selected to be on “The Biggest Loser,” Lisa was flown to California and locked in a house with the other contestants. The contestants were then cut off from the outside world (no television, phone or newspaper!). In only three months, Lisa lost 75lbs and became one of the final five competitors. Since finishing on the show, Lisa has kept a very busy schedule! She filled us in on all her activities when we ran into her during her celebrity guest appearance at the WESH Channel 2 Lifestyles Expo. Lisa told us she has appeared on nearly all the radio and television talk shows, including her favorite: Larry King Live. She is currently in negotiation with QVC about hosting her very own weight loss show. Watch for more to come from this successful Lisa Maile grad! Way to go, Lisa! You may remember our November Newsletter cover girl, Acting grad Shannon McGinnis. After shooting an episode of NBC’s “Law & Order” last year, Shannon has been busy with auditions for shows on both The WB and Fox. Shannon is still living in New York, and recently landed a role on the ABC soap “One Life to Live.” She will be playing the nanny “Ginger” for Blair Cramer (Kassie DePaiva) and Todd Manning (Trevor St. John). Her first episode airs on April 14th! Congratulations, Shannon! In The News! Acting graduate, Fawn Bloom, recently shot several new commercials! Keep a look out for her in commercials for “Revol Wireless” and “All Star Vacation Rentals.” Fawn was also a principal in a “Replens/RePhresh” commercial and video news release. Way to go! Children’s Acting graduate, five-year-old Austin Buholtz, just finished shooting an episode for a show called “Astonishing News,” which airs on Nippon Television in Japan. Austin plays the role of an East German boy who, in 1980, was stung by over 100 bees – and survived! Congratulations, Austin! Children’s Acting graduate, Kaitlyn Garrison, has been extremely busy lately! She was cast in a lead role in the student film “Runway,” and was booked in a Red Lobster commercial that will promote their new, healthier menu. The commercial will be shown on television and on the internet! Kaitlyn can also be seen in an upcoming independent feature film called “In His Beauty” and on a DVD for KICSFLIX. Congrats, Kaitlyn! Congrats to our Office Assistant, Nina Haine, who’s been very busy outside the school. Nina was recently in a runway show at the convention center (along with grad, Tarah Benzel) for “Ashley Nostalgia.” Nina also just got word that a local make up/body painting artist is using a picture of her from a recent photo shoot on his new business card! In addition to all this, Nina spent the past week in Jacksonville working the TPC at Sawgrass for Buick. She’s very grateful to the Lisa Maile staff for working together to let her take the time out of her full-time schedule to work the event - and so is her agent! Lisa Maile graduate, Brittany McDaniel, kept the crowds entertained at the Central Florida Fair. Not only is Justin Smith keeping busy teaching our children’s and teen classes, but he’s continuing to book commercials! Watch out for his new “Wet ‘n Wild” and “Mizzuno Golf Shoes” commercials, as well as a commercial he shot recently for “Rooms to Go” (in which he sings “The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow!”). In addition to all this, Justin is working on the John Travolta/James Gandolfini movie “Lonely Hearts.” Justin was cast in the role of a construction worker. Don’t forget to sign up for Justin’s Advanced Children’s Acting or Teen Acting class! All students enrolled in the class will get to create a demo showcasing their work and take a field trip to the WB station to perform on set! Seating is limited! Brother and Sister Children’s Acting graduates, Alec (4yrs) and Sabrina (9yrs) LeMaster have been keeping busy! They were both booked for a Kid Vision Learning TV spot, an industrial video for KICSFLIX and an independent film called “Windows to the Soul.” Sabrina was a principal cast in the role of “Simone” for a UCF film called “Back Porch.” Alec has been staying busy auditioning and answering callbacks. Congratulations to both of you! Keep us posted! Congratulations to Paul Amadi, Stephanie Blick, Brittany McDaniel, Alexandra & Adriana Milbrath and Ayanah Vegas for their excellent performances at the WESH Channel 2 Lifestyles Expo! Congratulations & Good Luck to all our students and graduates in pageants! Alexandra Milbrath is 2005’s “Miss Orlando Teen-America” and will be representing Orlando in the Miss Outstanding Teen Pageant, which will be held next month in Lakeland. Adriana Milbrath is the 2005 “Miss Orlando Junior-America” and will be representing Orlando as a Sunshine Princess at the Miss Florida Pageant in Lakeland this June. Valerie Lynch (Miss City Beautiful 2004) was awarded a $500 scholarship when she was crowned the new “Miss DuPage County” on March 6th. Valerie will be competing in the Miss Illinois pageant this summer. She is currently a first year law student at the University of Chicago. Allison Kreiger (Miss Ocala/Marion County 2004) was presented with the Phyllis M. Meek for Susan B. Anthony Award, acknowledging the contributions she has made on behalf of women at the University of Florida and the Gainesville Community Center. Allison has dedicated many hours’ work to the prevention of eating disorders. Ashley Gonyea won the title of “Miss Putnam County Fair” along with “Best Dressed,” “Best Eyes” and “Ultimate Beauty.” Ashley came away from her very first pageant with four trophies to her name!
