Witch Tales!

Keep an eye open next year for an exciting new movie based on the popular Witch Girls Tales comics.  Magna Graphix Productions has developed their award winning comic book series into a SAG live action movie! The Witch Girls Tales movie will follow the adventures of two young witches, Annabelle and Janette, as they help their Aunt Helena prepare for her Halloween party.  The party will be a contest to determine which witch will be the Halloween Witch, and Aunt Helena’s rivals are determined to make things difficult.

We were very excited to learn that our very own Brooke Horn was cast in the role of Annabelle Deville!  Thirteen-year-old Brooke will be spending her summer in Dallas, Texas shooting the movie.  We’re so proud of you, Brooke!  Brooke attended Children’s, Teen and Advanced Acting classes at our school.  She has booked at least 60 print jobs and numerous commercials, including Disney’s Cruise Line, Coca-Cola and four for Haverty’s!  In spite of all her experience, this feature film promises to be an experience of a lifetime!

The movie will be shot mainly in front of a green screen, and the special effects will be done by Hive Studios –the same company that did The Matrix!  The Witch Girls Tales movie is due to premiere for Halloween 2006.  For more information about Brooke Horn or the Witch Girls Tales, you can visit Brooke’s website at www.brookehorn.citymax.com or the Witch Girls Tales website at www.witchgirlstales.com.

Introducing…

Jean Wilkes!

We’re very happy to introduce Acting graduate Jean Wilkes as the newest member of our staff!  Jean can be seen in commercials for Publix, Amtrak, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center and Beall’s.  She has also done Industrials for Darden, Toys R Us and Awana Ministries, and her print work credits include Busch Gardens and Disney!  Even with her busy schedule, she still has time for her family.  Jean has been married to her husband, Tom, for 32 years, and their children range in age from 10 to 25.

Jean will be bringing her industry expertise and experience into the classroom, teaching in our 4 to 6 year old Children’s Program.  In addition to teaching, Jean will be helping out in the office!  Welcome, Jean!

Words of Wisdom from

School President, Debbie Wisner

Don’t be afraid to keep trying, even if things get difficult. A person can fail many times, but they aren’t a failure until they give up.

The Lisa Maile School presents . . .

Accent Modification Training

Compton P-ESL Program

An Accent Modification Program for Improving Business,

Professional, Performance and Social Speaking Skills

Taught by Jackie Levine, Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist

Do you have a foreign or regional accent? Is it getting in the way of your speaking skills or performance opportunities? If so, this is the program for you!

Reducing your accent can benefit everyone -

·        People will understand you more easily.

·        Your self confidence will increase.

·        You will be able to work more efficiently and productively.

·        You will feel more at home in your environment.

·        Your credibility will increase.

The Compton Pronouncing English as a Second Language (P-ESL) program begins with a personal analysis of your speech. This analysis reveals exactly how your pronunciation varies from standard American English and identifies specific areas for concentration. The analysis also assists in determining the number of sessions suggested. Jackie then teaches appropriate speech modification techniques, as well as the basic sounds and principles of standard American English. Upon completion of the course, your speech is analyzed again. The results are then compared to the initial analysis so the extent of improvement can be determined. Past comparisons have shown that students who attend all the appropriate sessions and practice diligently can expect to experience at least a 50% change in their accent or dialect. For more information, or to arrange for your personal speech analysis, please call the Lisa Maile School at 407-628-5989!

In The News!

Graduates Lauren (13) and Matthew (9) Dorman have been very busy lately!  Lauren has booked quite a bit of print work (and a promotional video!) for Scholastic Books.  Lauren and Matthew can both be seen on television for Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s “Seven Top Rides for 2005,” which will air on both Disney and the Travel Channel.  The Dormans have also booked a TV commercial for ESPN, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Wide World of Sports and MGM.  And as if that weren’t enough, they were both cast in the feature film “Suns of Heaven,” which will be shot in and around Orlando. Matthew will be playing an abducted boy and Lauren will be playing an alien.  Congratulations, both of you!

Congrats to Acting Graduate, Desiree Proctor!  She took on the big job of writing and producing her own show for the Orlando International Fringe Festival!  Good luck, Desiree!  We’re proud of you!

Graduate Ellen Pyzik gave us some exciting news!  She will be hosting the pilot episode for an educational series about engineering for the Boston Museum of Science!  She also recently competed in the Rose of Tralee Pageant – and won!  As the Boston Rose, Ellen will be heading to Ireland this August to compete in the International Rose of Tralee Festival.  Only 28 girls from around the world are chosen to go to Tralee for the weeklong event which includes appearances and press, and ends with the pageant (which will be aired on Irish national television!).  Way to go, Ellen!  Ellen is due to graduate from Boston College in May, and she then plans to more to LA to pursue a full-time career in acting.  Keep us posted!

Keep your eyes open for Acting Instructor Kevin O’Neill’s new commercial.  He recently did a national commercial for Accenture with golf superstar, Tiger Woods.  Kevin played Tiger’s caddy.  Way to go, Kevin!

Acting Grad, Cedrick Robinson, moved to Los Angeles three years ago to pursue his passion for acting.  We recently caught up with Cedrick, and he had some great news! He played a police chief in a short film called “Dark World,” was a featured extra in the season finale of the TV show, “The Parkers,” and he played an angry bellman in an episode of “NYPD Blue.” Cedrick also works in the Promotions Dept. for the jazz radio station, KTWV 94.7 The Wave, and he’ll be working as press/media at the upcoming 2005 B.E.T. Awards!  And even with his busy schedule, Cedrick still has time to pursue his BA degree at Santa Monica College.  Keep it up, Cedrick!  We’re so proud of you!

Congrats to Acting Instructor (and Acting and Modeling Grad), Justin Smith!  He was the only talent from Orlando to be selected to shoot a commercial for New Orleans Casino!  Justin was flown to New Orleans for the five-day shoot.  He also just shot a commercial for a brand new energy drink called Lift-Off Energy.  In spite of his busy schedule, Justin still found time to MC the Seminole Towne Center Talent Show!

Speaking of the Talent Show…

If you were at the Seminole Towne Center on Saturday, May 14th, then you may have seen the Lisa Maile Talent Showcase!  The show gave performers between the ages of 7 and 17 a chance to showcase their talent.  We would like to thank our local celebrity judges: David Martin from Fox News @ 10pm, Lisa Andreone from The Biggest Loser and Beth Sherman from Fox 35 News.

Congratulations to the showcase winners, Jacob Connolly and Shannon Wilson!

We’d also say a huge thank you to all the contestants who participated – well done!

Makeup Magic!

Lisa Armstrong has worked in the cosmetic industry for over 25 years. As a teen, “dabbling” in makeup and trying to duplicate the look of the models in the magazines was a fun challenge - one that came easily. Upon completing college, Lisa answered an ad for a cosmetic sales position, a perfect fit, and her “summer job” lasted for four years, and her cosmetics career had begun!

Lisa has worked as a makeup artist and account executive in the Central Florida area for such companies as Cardeaux Faceworks, Estee Lauder and most recently Cara Cosmetics. A strong background in both the business and creative side of cosmetics gives Lisa a well-rounded edge. In addition to working as a freelance makeup artist, Lisa is a natural born trainer and instructs the Image Development students at Lisa Maile Image, Modeling and Acting School in proper skin care practices as well as basic and advanced makeup techniques. “I truly love teaching the young girls and sharing with them the knowledge I have acquired over the years. It’s so important to have a healthy complexion and to allow your own makeup style to develop”.

Lisa specializes in clean, fresh and beautiful makeup that brings out each individual’s own natural beauty. “My passion is to enhance a woman’s inner and outer beauty. This is a goal I strive for. My background in makeup training and my years of hands-on experience really helps me focus on giving my client a look of confidence and happiness.”
