Happy Holidays!

As 2004 draws to a close, the staff at the Lisa Maile School wishes you and your family a very happy holiday season!  It has been our pleasure to assist you in achieving your goals this past year, and we’re looking forward to an exciting and successful 2005.  We’d like to take this opportunity to reintroduce our staff, and to remind you that we are always here to help you!

Debbie Wisner first came to Lisa Maile in 1992 as a student in the Professional Modeling program. The following year she was hired as the Admissions Director. Little did she know that in 2004 she would become the school’s President! Debbie’s warmth and genuineness adds a personal touch to all her relationships with the students and parents at the school. Debbie teaches classes in both the children’s and adult programs, and is always available for encouragement and guidance. Her email is debbiew@lisamaile.com.

Debby Tapia began her career at Lisa Maile as a student in the Image and Modeling Program.  She has worked at the school for 17 years, first as the Office Manager, and now as the Public/Student Relations Director.  Debby is available to assist you in selecting headshots, writing your resume, and enrolling in additional classes.  She also teaches many of our children’s programs.  Debby can be emailed at debbyt@lisamaile.com

Loretta Rispoli enrolled her son, David, in our Children’s and Teen Acting classes to help develop his self confidence.  Now, years later, David is majoring in acting at DePaul University in Chicago.  Loretta has an extensive background in coordinating and scheduling, and teaching children’s creativity classes.  She also has a lot of experience in the entertainment industry.  Loretta can be reached at lorettar@lisamaile.com

Nina Haine started at the school as a student in the Image and Confidence Development program and later moved into the Professional Modeling course.  Her enthusiastic, friendly and outgoing personality helps everyone to feel welcome.  Nina is available to assist you on weeknights and Saturdays.  She can be reached at ninah@lisamaile.com.

Laura Brown is a graduate of the school’s Image, Modeling and Acting programs.  Her efficiency, professionalism and willingness to assist students and clients are assets to our team.  If you have a question or need class make up dates, email Laura at laurab@lisamaile.com.

Katie Tyler graduated from both the Image and Modeling programs at Lisa Maile, and recently graduated from UCF with a degree in Interpersonal Communication.  Katie has worked many different positions at the school.  She began as a front office receptionist, then worked as an assistant in the children’s acting classes, and now she handles our school’s publications!  Katie can be reached by emailing frontdesk@lisamaile.com.

In the News!

Children’s Acting, Modeling and Advanced Acting student, Brianna Beard, recently performed a poetry monologue for over 300 people at the Seminole County Chamber of Commerce during an event to benefit Kid’s House.  Kid’s House is a non-profit organization that protects abused children.  Brianna and her family, including her brother B.J. Beard (who is a Children’s and Advanced Acting student here at our school) were invited to sit at the head of the table as VIPs.  We think they are VIPs every night!

Acting grad, Jo Jo Catchings, popped in to let us know he has an urban pop single coming out soon called “Say What.”  His management, TCT, says Jo Jo will fly to Austin, TX to shoot the video for his single.  When the video is finished, he’ll then travel overseas to tour! Jo Jo told us he is still touring the United States to promote the Reader’s Digest Education and Prevention/Positive Peer Programs.  He recently performed at the Toy Fair in New York City, the Mall of America in Minnesota, and in Washington D.C.  Jo Jo also just auditioned for Nickelodeon and a new PGA commercial.  Phew!  That’s a lot of traveling!

Carol Davis called in with some exciting news about her son, Acting grad Gregory Davis II.  He relocated to Los Angeles in June of 2003 and has been working through the DSA Agency – he even has a personal manager!  Gregory (who is both SAG and AFTRA) played Terrell Davenport in an episode of CSI: New York, starring Gary Sinise.  The episode, called “Outside Man,” aired on November 10th.  That’s not all Gregory has been up to!  He has a pilot coming out soon, and he recently shot a straight-to-video film called “Doing Hard Time.”  With all this success it doesn’t sound like he’s having too hard a time!  Way to go!

Here’s the latest update on the Kebbel girls, Arielle and Julia!  Besides her recurring role as “Lindsay” on Gilmore Girls, TV Acting grad Arielle Kebbel is now appearing in a 4-episode arc of Grounded for Life.  Arielle’s next film has her working with Vince Vaughn in John Travolta’s “Get Shorty” sequel, entitled “Be Cool.”  She’s currently gracing the cover of Vegas magazine and is also featured in LA Confidential magazine.  Check her out at wireimage.com and celebrityphoto.com!  Arielle’s sister, Julia, is also a talented actress and has been pursuing the business end of the industry—she still loves her position at New Line Cinema.  Both girls are active with volunteer work in L.A.  Julia volunteers for Stand Up For Kids, which is an organization that helps teens on the streets and in shelters.   Arielle mentors children at an inner-city school program called A Place Called Home.  Great work, girls!

Congratulations to Teen Acting grad, Spencer Locke!  She was recently cast as “Candida” for next season’s “Phil of the Future,” a series which airs on the Disney Channel.  Spencer began shooting her first episode on November 30th.  Way to go!

After graduating from our Acting and Advanced Acting classes, Stephanie Rae began to pursue acting as a full time career.  She updated her headshots a month ago, and since then has booked print and video work for Hard Rock Hotels, a Bud-Light commercial, an infomercial for Sleep-Down Mattresses, and print work for Universal’s City Walk.  She was also recently booked as a hostess for the Orlando Citrus Parade vignette segment.  Even with her busy schedule, Stephanie emailed us to let us know she’s “looking forward to attending this month’s seminar!”

Holiday Magic

By Lisa Armstrong, School Instructor

The hectic holidays are almost upon us and to help give some easy ways to keep your cool this season try on some of these hints for a magical holiday season.

·        Protect your skin from the harsh cool dry air and indoor heat with an extra dose of moisturizer.  Use a serum at night under your regular crème for added hydrating benefits.

·        Even though it is wintertime, you’ll still want to use a good sunscreen.  Choose a #15 or higher for your face.  Added boost: find a moisturizer and a foundation with a sunscreen too.

·        Don’t forget to apply moisturizer to your body, as our arms, legs and waist can get so dry too.  Use the wonderful selection of shimmer lotions to add sparkle to your party look, and extra rich body butters for nighttime sleeping.  Olive oil cremes are the balm!

·        Step up your exfoliating to remove that dry dead skin.  Your complexion and body will just glow when you apply your cremes.

·        Smokey eyes smolder for your holiday look.  Start with a soft shimmer highlighter under the eyebrow, add an accent color in a medium tone on the lid and finish with a rich brown or charcoal or smokey green through the crease.  Line the upper and lower lids with pencil and using a mini smudger brush smudge and diffuse the line to smoke it up.

·        Use different colored mascara’s for a fun look.  Even use 2 different colors for the upper and lower lashes.

·        Define your brows for a well-groomed and balanced look.

·        Select a shimmer lip color and always outline with a pencil for perfection.

·        Lastly, dust your face with a gold, silver or bronze powder for a face that is fresh, radiant and ready for a party.
